Sid's @ TTDI

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

It's always nice to celebrate christmas with your favourite beer. We got to Sid's around 10pm and luckily it wasn't full so we managed to get a nice table. For some reason, they don't have a menu but drinks are written on the board around the bar which was rather difficult to read.

Guinness was on their merry ways with the best-est promotion to guarantee a happy night - get 3 pints, free 1 pint and a shot glass. It comes to rm17 per pint + tax (of course). The place was really pack to the brim slightly before the xmas countdown.

Atmosphere was decent, the crowd was a mixture of foreigners from Europe, Africa and our very own KL-ians'. Service started to lagged with the growing crowd but we managed to get our beers on the table just in time for the countdown and christmas toast. This is the place for Guinness drinkers.

Drinkers Verdict
Likman - Speechless! Heineken tasted flat. After 2 cans of Calsberg, this Heineken has no kick. Rating: 3 / 5
Ah Koon - Can't tell if it's a Heineken. Rating: 2.5 / 5. Not an expert on stout but Guinness is better than Connor's - sorry Likman. Rating: 4 / 5
CC - "Black goes with everything", so does Guinness! Rating: 4 / 5

Overall Rating: 3.4 / 5

Tom, Dick & Harry's @ TTDI

A little place in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail just got a little better. It's newest hang out place is Tom, Dick & Harry's or "TDH" has a nice ring to the name. The crowd was pretty good considering it opened earlier in the month and by 8pm it was quite pack. Again, we like their enforcement of the "parking" system whereby you can order drinks during happy hour for the rest of the night.

Happy hour @ TDH is from 4 - 8 pm. They serve draught Carlsberg, Connor's Stout, Hoegaarden, Tetley's and Blackthorn Cider. However they didn't have Tetley's the day we were there. Patrons can have a good celebration by the barrel of Hoegaarden @ rm1000 which serves 30-40 glasses of beer. A tip to make a reservation for the barrel because there's only 1 tap at the moment.

The selection of bottled beer is quite good and single malt Macallan is always nice for the sophisticated taste-buds. They serve pretty good spaghetti carbonara and sausages. But the pork burger was a disappointment as there was an extremely strong pork smell. Hopefully they will change their pork supplier asap.

The ambience is cozy with a modern and rustic feel. The bench type tables are surprisingly quite comfortable. You can easily chitchat with friends as you sit quite close together like in the old school days.

Drinkers Verdict
  • Likman - Hoegaarden to start off the night is good. I love Connor's to Guinness coz I don't like the strong stout taste. Rating: 4.5 / 5
  • Ah Koon - Carlsberg is not bad and not watered down. I prefer Guinness to Connor's as the "tingling sensation" doesn't suit my tongue. Rating: 4 / 5
  • CC - Hoegaarden was full of taste (you can definitely taste the "flowery taste"). The cider was not too bad though not a strong alcoholic drink. Rating: 4.5 / 5

Overall Rating: 4.3 / 5

Located opposite Taylor's business school in ss15, Subang Jaya, this is a nice and spacious hangout place. There's plenty of pool table, foosball table and computer slot machine type games. We ordered some bar food - french fries, onion rings and crackers to go along with our Tiger beer. Happy hour is until 8pm @ rm36 for our Tiger.
